2010 Terravin Pinot Noir
A moderate to low yielding vintage due to a cooler flowering period and long summer with intermittent rainfall set us up for a fabulous vintage for almost all varieties grown in Marlborough.
Fruit was sourced from the Northwest facing hillside of the Eaton family Vineyard where the 100mm topsoil covers a layered glacially deposited series of stones, sands and minerals bound in clay and the north facing slopes of the Cowley Vineyard where the soils are also overlying clay bound gravels. Also form the Clayvin vineyard which overlays clay sub soils. It is these complex layers and the cooler evening temperatures that give optimal growing conditions for a more complex and intense Pinot Noir with purity and fresh balance.
